US Anodize - Continuous Improvement and Design Internships

US Anodize is an amazing company providing, mostly, aluminum finishing services. The leadership there is overwhelmingly kind and welcoming, and over my two summers there I got to learn about so much and contribute to many interesting projects, usually learning or teaching myself the core concepts of the things I got to work on while I did them. I got to develop all the skills I knew I wanted to exercise, even in a role that wasn’t as focused on the particularly mechanical side of my engineering education. I am endlessly grateful to everyone who I got to work with there.

During my employment at US Anodize, I…

Summer 2025
  • Led and executed various improvement plans for the plant.
  • Created an internal template to document configurations of parts and fixtures for repeated anodization processes.
  • Designed and executed the reconfiguration and organization of an entire physical department on the plant floor.
  • Categorized and organized subsets of titanium fixtures for easier identification and use by production employees.
Summer 2026
  • Designed and manufactured Angle Jig fixture from CAD concept through prototyping, cutting set-up time on aluminum racking. Jig comprised of machined, Type-III anodized aluminum and 3D-printed angle setters.
  • Designed and installed cart-mounted 3D-printed tool holders across Small Parts area workstations, standardizing tool access and organization.
  • Performed structural static simulations for a new steel mezzanine, creating and iterating the design to hold a total of 9200 gallons of water (~75000 lbs.).
  • Surveyed 100+ titanium fixtures for their current capacities to optimize electrical calculations and load sizes across all anodizing processes.
